The CODESYS development environment shows the integration of safety modules into an EtherCAT network, including safety-related I/O configuration.

Integrated project planning

Configure the decentralized EtherCAT module directly in the CODESYS Development System as a child of the functional standard controller. Use the integrated FSoE® (FailSafe over EtherCAT) configurator to configure the safety and I/O modules. The safety I/Os are mapped logically into the safety application.

The safety application is programmed in a validated graphical FBD editor. The functions stored in the safety modules, such as emergency stop, safety gate monitoring, two-hand control, etc., are used as library functions.

Data exchange with the functional standard controller is possible via logical global variables. The download of the safety application is secured via an automated diversity compilation check. You can record and document the version status of the safety application using unique CRCs. This saves you, for example, having to re-certify the security application if the functional application changes.
